Read With the World!!!!

Global Read Aloud

Check out this great opportunity to connect with the world as you read a great book aloud!

www.theglobalreadaloud.com

Here is a brief background of Global Read Aloud.

Julie and Allison have already read Fish In A Tree to their classes (and I believe they highly recommend it!).

Liz and Missy will be joining the author study on Amy Krouse Rosenthal.  Many of her books are waiting for you in Central Perk.

I'd love to track down some of the other read alouds and help you get the tech side of this project up and rolling.

Global Read Aloud launches October 5!

The Book With No Pictures

Many of you have seen this book sitting on my table.   It's nearly impossible to not open it.

Check out B.J. Novak reading his own book.

You are welcome to borrow it.  Your students will be glad you did.

A small dose of non-fiction writing

Don't wait until the "expository writing unit" to get your kids writing non-fiction!
And maybe....don't' even start with reports.  Try out smaller doses of non-fiction writing.

Check out this 2 minute video by one of our favs and get expository writing into your classroom now.

The Q & A format is perfect for the beginning of the year since you haven't taught introductions and conclusions yet. It is also a great way to bring writing into science and social studies.

P.S.  We have the Animals Black and White book plus another one called Animals Camouflage that is written in the same format!

Welcome To Central Perk!

Come along on a quick tour of the new teacher resource room, better known as Central Perk.
(Shout out to Allison for coming up with the name!)

I will also be using this blog throughout the year to post updates and highlight new resources that can be helpful for you!

Happy Friday!
